Our Mission

Community Engagement

myarts.unm.edu expresses a major part of the CFA’s identity: helping people of all ages nurture their passion for art. Community engagement, from K-12 to faculty research is a prominent aspect of the College of Fine Arts both locally and nationally.

Local Outreach

The UNM Art Museum houses the largest collection of fine art in the state, and it opens its doors to schools and other community groups. We send student interns around the city to work (Arts Management), musicians into the hospital to help people heal (Arts-in-Medicine), and artists to teach about sustainability (Art and Ecology).

Cultural Enhancement

More artists means more revenue for the state. Economic growth through enhancement of our cultural economy is a prominent aspect of the CFA’s outreach. A strong foundation in the arts is a cornerstone for the cultural innovators of the past, present, and future.
